By accessing and using OLOCR ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

OLOCR is a free online OCR (Optical Character Recognition) tool that provides the following services:

  • Image to Text — Extract text from images
  • GIF to Text — Extract text from animated GIFs
  • PDF to Text — Extract text from PDF documents
  • PDF to Searchable — Convert scanned PDFs into searchable PDFs

🔒 Browser-Based Processing

All OCR processing happens entirely in your browser. Your images and PDF files are never uploaded to our servers.

OLOCR also offers an optional AI-powered text optimization feature. When you use this feature, only the recognized text (not your original files) is sent through our server to a third-party AI service for processing.

3. Accounts and Credits

You may sign in using Google or GitHub to create an account. Account creation is optional for basic OCR features but required for the AI text optimization feature.

  • Unregistered users: Can use all basic OCR features for free. AI text optimization is not available without an account.
  • Registered users (free): Can use AI text optimization with a daily usage limit. The specific limit may be adjusted at any time without notice.
  • Subscribed users: Receive additional monthly credits for AI text optimization through paid subscriptions or redemption codes. Monthly credits reset at the beginning of each billing cycle.

We reserve the right to modify credit allocations, pricing, and usage limits at any time.

4. User Responsibilities

You are solely responsible for any content you process through the Service. You agree NOT to use the Service to:

  • Process or distribute illegal content
  • Process copyrighted material without proper authorization
  • Attempt to abuse, overload, or disrupt the Service
  • Circumvent usage limits or access controls
  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations

5. Intellectual Property

You retain full ownership of any files you process and any OCR results generated through the Service. OLOCR does not claim any rights to your content.

The Service itself, including its design, code, and branding, is the intellectual property of OLOCR and is protected by applicable laws.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT:

  • OCR results will be 100% accurate or error-free
  • AI text optimization will produce correct or complete results
  • The Service will be uninterrupted, timely, or secure

7. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OLOCR SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR DAMAGES FROM RELIANCE ON OCR OR AI OPTIMIZATION RESULTS.

8. Termination

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your access to the Service at any time, without notice, for any reason, including violation of these Terms.

9. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
